When we asked Yvonne to put together her achievements over the past four years, she sent us an eight-page, single-spaced document outlining dozens of initiatives.

Behind these results is a mayor who knows how to fight for Collingwood, negotiate agreements and move major projects forward. Her record reflects her commitment to managing growth responsibly while protecting what we all love about our Town.

​

Here are some of the highlights:

​

• Secured Collingwood’s new hospital, personally advocating to Premier Ford to win provincial approval and funding;

​

• Advanced the $270-million expansion of Collingwood’s water treatment plant to construction, securing significant provincial and partner funding to ensure  zero impact on property taxes;

​

• Maintained a fiscally conservative approach to municipal spending, holding the 2026 property tax increase to 2.39% and minimizing debt while continuing to invest in essential services and infrastructure;

​

• Helped recruit six new family doctors – four now practicing in Collingwood and two more committed to opening practices in Fall 2026;

​

• Advanced affordable housing, donating Town-owned land, introducing incentives for developers to include affordable housing in new developments, and supporting a 30-unit affordable rental project – a partnership between Collingwood, the County of Simcoe and the provincial and federal governments.

 

• Expanded rental housing supply, with more units on the way through an award-winning accessory dwelling unit initiative.

• Resurfaced more than 30 road sections, including the long-awaited repaving of High Street and advanced other key infrastructure improvements;

​

• Secured a 37-acre site on Tenth Line for a new multi- use recreation centre on Tenth Line, the result of extensive behind-the-scenes work;

​

• Advanced plans for a new arts centre to serve Collingwood and the surrounding region, now underway in the site selection phase;

​

• Invested in new parks and recreation spaces, delivering Awen’ Waterplay, Dry Dock Junction Park, the cycle pump track, the den Bok Family Park, and the Wilson-Sheffield Community Park

​

• Protected Main Street by preserving patios and expanding downtown parking;

​

• Introduced a Municipal Accommodation Tax generating new revenue for downtown improvements and Tourism Collingwood while cracking down on illegal short-term accommodations and protecting residential neighbourhoods

​

• Secured the Collingwood Blues in Collingwood by negotiating a long- term agreement

​

• Made Town Hall more open and accessible through S.P.A.R.C in the Park, major public consultations, creating the Youth Mayor program and regular updates, ensuring residents stayed informed and had a stronger voice in Town decisions.

• Secured the vacant property at 84 Hurontario and the iconic historical Federal Building for public use.
